Do You Have a Tribe?

It’s been said that you are the average of the five people you spend the most of your time with.

Seth Godin says, “One of the most powerful of our survival mechanisms is to be part of a tribe, to contribute to (and take from) a group of like-minded people. We are drawn to leaders and to their ideas, and we can’t resist the rush of belonging and the thrill of the new.”

COVID may have been a few years ago but it is still a beautiful example of what having a tribe looks like. It was a time of confusion and uncertainty. Would we survive a total break of our system? Would our people come back?

People were swiping and purchasing on-demand programs in record numbers. Think Peloton or Beach Body. Fun Fact: COVID forced the fitness industry 20 years into the future, with palm of your hand access! At least that is what I read.

Back to my story…..

covid 1

We had worked so hard to create an in-person experience. What did this longer than expected closure mean for our future?

Well the funniest thing happened. Our tribe wanted to show up for us! We started doing live workouts on FB, and lending out equipment to our peeps. They started meeting each other in parks and working out with that equipment we lent them. They really just wanted to be around “their” people again!

We even received “Love Donations” from our past members. To this day I still get a lump in my throat thinking about it.  Our Tribe had spoken! What set us apart from other gyms was a feeling.

You can’t replace the feeling of sweating it out next to your gym bro or sis. The buzz of energy. The sounds of controlled chaos. Your friends pushing you when you thought you couldn’t run faster or couldn’t do another rep. Your coach telling you “yes you can” right when you need it.

At Faith Fitness Gym we know when we haven’t seen you even for a few days. You better believe that we will be sending a text to see why! It’s that very reason why our tribe reports that they have never felt more comfortable at a gym before us.

There’s something incredibly special about a group of people that suffer and sweat together.

Tribes of all kinds are important because…

Life will have its difficult times. You will fail. You will make mistakes. You’ll want the support of a tribe.

There will be things that you don’t want to do (but you need to do). You’re going to need people to believe in you more than you believe in yourself at those moments.

There are people that care about what you have to say and where you have been. You need a tribe.

Go find yours.

If you feel like you don’t know where to look, come be a part of ours
