How to Thrive—Not Just Survive

Words matter.

Words shape perceptions. Perceptions shape intentions. Intentions shape just about everything.

Around this time of year, I often think about the irony of the saying “New Year, New You”. We hear and read about this often all over social media: i get it, you just survived holiday parties, family gatherings and a busy season filled with festivities. You feel like you need to make big changes.

However…

Let’s be honest, these guides are usually telling us what we should eat and drink after the holiday season—less, usually. Or more and then less, to make up for the “more” you ate during the holidays. That is hard for even the seasoned fitness goer.

Leaving aside the odd notion of “less” as sound nutritional advice, this sounds like a pretty rough way to live life.  What are we choosing, really?

What if we flipped the coin?

What if we enjoyed the eating without guilt. Because we making healthy choices. What if we added instead of taking away?

Eating delicious food that makes you feel full and energized.

Doing awesome workouts powered by that great food.

Heck, what if we enjoyed learning what foods fuel us. Instead of taking advice from people or companies peddling magic solutions?

A majority of people don’t need to eat less, they need to eat better ingredients. I cannot count the number of times clients have been shocked at how wonderful they feel after adding in nutrition. Not taking it away!

I don’t blame you for being confused. The industry of selling cookie cutter workouts and nutrition programs were designed that way. There isn’t a lot of profit in making you healthy.

I hope your holidays were full of beautiful memories. The New year, new you isn’t a bad thing. It’s a wonderful way to conceptualize a new start in your health.

Flip the coin! Shift your perception. Eat the good for you food and get the workouts in. Set yourself up for success that will last longer 2 months . So you can see what heights you can really reach.
